This week, we are approaching the end of a very long trip – our longest ever. Now, for the most part, we really do try to be upbeat about deputation. We know that this is what the Lord has ordained for us, we can't deny that this experience has been instrumental to much spiritual growth in our lives, we have made dozens of good friends along the way, and we have had many wonderful opportunities for ministry. But, if all goes as planned, this current trip will take 31 days. That's 31 days of not checking our mail (a friend is doing that), 30 nights of going to bed somewhere other than home, 31 days of Marcia giving Maggie a bath in someone else's bathroom, etc. We realize that deputation will not last the rest of our lives, but you can probably imagine that this kind of traveling puts a strain on one's family - and we only have one kid! The Lord has never failed us, and we have had many people treat us just like family, but we are looking forward to living in one place someday. |
