A serious thought…

“It is an easy thing to make a noise in the world, to flourish and harangue, to dazzle the crowd and set them all agape; but deeply to imbibe the Spirit of Christianity, to maintain a secret walk with God, to be holy, as he is holy – this is the labour, this is the work.” (from Iain Murray, Revival and Revivalism, p. 45)

Those words came from Samuel Davies, a Great Awakening preacher and one of the first presidents of Princeton. While the language he uses is old (Davies died in 1761), the idea is still relevant. His main point was to say that true preaching (and true ministry of any kind, I would add) cannot exist without real communion with God. This is why we often ask that people pray for our own walk with God. Without communion with God, we are wasting our time driving from church to church, trying to have a ministry. Please pray for us in this regard.
