One week and counting…

Okay, here we are again to report that the baby has still not come. Marcia is officially one week late now, and we are beginning to wonder if this baby will ever come. Since Maggie was born on her due date, it honestly did not even occur to us that this baby would not even be close to her due date. Please pray for Marcia, who must bear the strain of carrying this late baby. Please pray for our family, too, as we try to maintain normal life while expecting every day to have a baby.

In trying to deal with our waiting and frustration in a God-glorifying way, we found encouragement in a letter from John Newton on the subject, “Submission to the will of the Lord.” It is a long letter, and here is just of the many thought-provoking statements therein:

“I can hardly recollect a single plan of mine, of which I have not since seen reason to be satisfied, that had it taken place in season and circumstance just as I proposed, it would, humanly speaking, have proved my ruin; or, at least, it would have deprived me of the greater good the Lord had designed for me.” (from Letters of John Newton, p. 188)

Pray that we would experience the “greater good” that the Lord has for us in this time of waiting.
