Well, I just posted our most recent prayer letter here, so I thought I might as well update the blog too. Things have been pretty busy for us lately – let me explain.
We had a wonderful time with a supporting church in their missions conference two weeks ago. We were at Grace Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC. We considered not going because Gwyneth was (and still is) so young, but we are glad that we went. However, it was a very full week – good, but full.
We returned to Greenville in time for me to have about a day and half to finish preparing for ordination questioning. I never did feel very prepared, but the Lord helped me through. The questioning lasted about 45 minutes and was conducted in front of the entire church during the Wednesday evening service. Obviously, it was not the full-scale grilling that can take place in some ordinations, but I felt sufficiently grilled by the time we finished!
The actual ordination service we held last Sunday night. My brother-in-law Ken Casillas was ordained in the same service, which was special for our family. I really do marvel at God's grace to us. The whole prospect of my being ordained came up somewhat unexpectedly, but we trust that it was of the Lord.
So now we are recovering from the last two weeks (and the colds that we caught in the process). I wish I could say that ordination has made me a better Christian or a more committed missionary. I would say that it has been sobering for both Marcia and me.
