We have begun our visa application process, and it has turned out to be quite involved. I don't think that we will have a problem meeting the various requirements, but all of the instructions that I have found give ample warning that if you mess up your application or fail to provide the right documents etc., your visa will be rejected – it's kind of nerve-wracking. The difficult thing has been that I have yet to find a single source that tells me everything required for a “minister of religion” visa. I've had to try to piece things together, but I think I've got basically the complete picture now. So, having submitted an application online, we must now drive up to Charlotte, important documents in hand, so that Marcia and I can be finger-printed and photographed (all digitally). After that, we have two weeks to mail everything to the British Consulate General in New York. We were not planning a trip to Charlotte this week, but at least we are making progress. 1 Sept 2008 |
