Tomorrow it will have been two weeks since we arrived in Wales. We almost feel like it has been a couple of months, but in a good way. Our container arrived yesterday, which brought a welcome change. Unfortunately, the trucking company decided that our drive was too narrow, so we had to unload the container off-site and then bring it over in moving vans. I'm using a very general “we.” We ended up paying a moving company to do it all, and I'm not sorry at all that we did. With professional movers and two trucks, it took about four hours. I have no idea how long it would have taken Joe and me to do it, even if we hired a couple of guys to help. We were especially thankful that our couch actually made it all the way into our living room. It could not have been closer (see right). A word about the picture. The man moving our couch is not Andre the Giant – our apartment just has very low ceilings. So now we have our stuff and lots of unpacking to do. It's kind of like Christmas, since we have been living out of suitcases for 6 weeks now. We're having a good time unpacking. Many boxes bring up memories of those who helped us. Maggie melted into crying/maniacal laughter when we brought out her toy box full of toys. She immediately put on two different backpacks and a flower headband and began pulling around her rolling frog. Marcia is fully enjoying having her own kitchen with her own kitchen things to use, and with Thanksgiving tomorrow, she is using them. We made the kitchen an unpacking priority. So, thank you for praying for us. We still do not have our own internet service, which is why we're not putting more online right now. Tomorrow we will be celebrating Thanksgiving with the Nicholsons, and we have much for which to give thanks. |
