Four-week update…

It seems like yesterday that I was marveling that we had been here 3 weeks, and now it is 4. In many ways we feel like we are really adjusted well, and then every once in a while we get a small window into the fact that we have MUCH to learn. We are trying to experience new things and be exposed to the culture, etc. We went to a rugby game last Saturday, for example. I'm still learning the rules, but I'm pretty sure that points are awarded based on the amount of mud on one's clothing and face – not sure how they score if the game is indoors. It's fun to watch, although it's pretty brutal in an athletic, mostly good-natured sort of way. Speaking of brutal, Marcia and I are both learning to drive. It's weird, because we bought a car without really knowing if we would be able to drive it or not. Let's just say that every trip is tinged with a little adventure.

Beyond the cultural adjustments, we are learning more about our need for the grace of God. I had hoped to leave my sinful flesh behind in the U.S., but, alas, it made it through customs with the rest of me – the same for the rest of the family. But we have the gospel, and we might as well practice our evangelism by preaching it to ourselves first. We serve a wonderfully gracious God.
